The Bangalore School of Music & Fine Art a registered trust, is a not-for-profit organization, committed to the education of classical music, both East & West and towards creating a better understanding & appreciation of the two great world disciplines

The BSM attracts a young and enthusiastic group of students. From school and college students to professionals who've always wanted to play an instrument or sing. While most of our instructors are young and enthusiastic, the students benefit from the experience and guidance of those of our instructors who are young at heart! Together, they keep the school alive with music and awash with passion.

Teaching classical music, both eastern and western, our students train for the London Board & Progressive Music Examinations. A dedicated group of 30 teachers train over 500 young people each year. Musical training is given free to nearly 200 children from economically weaker sections.

Founder

Namaste! Namaskara! Greetings! Welcome to the Bangalore School of Music. It has been my privilege and vision to have sown the seed of a musical note in 1987 with the hope of developing it into a grand symphony in the future. It has been a challenge to build this special family of musicians over the years at home and around the world- of students, parents, teachers, committee members, staff, volunteers, music lovers, our cultural partners & associates. The press & media have also played their part in the grand symphony. . Our Music-Reach Program continues to empower over 200 disadvantaged children each year via local support & commitment of teachers. The inflow of regular students increases each year. The Annual East West Festival along with the numerous other events we organize each year has led to cultural partnerships with musicians from 30 countries world wide. This has also undoubtedly presented numerous opportunities of showcasing India's own rich cultural heritage. 2009 will see the 12th multicultural international East West Festival adding many more cultural & performing arts programs to its present list, with hopes of implementing numerous other ideas as well. It has given me much joy to see us, slowly but steadily, outgrow the 100 year old family bungalow which has been home to several thousand 'music-makers'. The dedicated members of the Trust & Board took a
decision in 2000, to secure the future of the Music School, by committing to building a permanent state-of-the-art home for its work and activities.

Music & the Arts are powerful tools for change. We sincerely hope we have played a small but significant part in empowering young minds and enriching the societies in which we live. May the BSM family of musicians and artistes- past, present & future, continue to be model human beings, wherever we go & in whatever we do. May the power of music continue to reach out, soften hearts & be a healing balm to the generations to come. This is our song.

East West Centre

The BSM was fortunate to be allocated a civic amenity site in RT. Nagar in 2001, for its permanent home to be called 'The Bangalore School of Music - EAST WEST CENTRE'.

Our new campus, brings new courses and classes, and will accommodate more students. Though we've been actively involved with fund raising, we still need contributions to help us meet finishing costs. BSM invites you to offer your patronage and sponsorship in completing this world-class centre for music.

The state-of-the-art campus offers unique features like individual Teaching Studios, the best dance studio in the city, 2 Mini Halls, Library, 120 Seat Auditorium, Recording Studio, Theatre, Café and Music Shop.
